The K9 Intelligence Unit™ certificate holders by reputation are some of the best from anywhere in the world. We do not want average K9s and/or handlers among our ranks. Only the very hard working, top performing professional level K9s and Handlers will make graduation day.

The K9 Intelligence Unit™ currently provides three recognized certifications. All three of our certifications have the Anti-Terrorism Accreditation Board's "CAS" designation as a pre-requisite.

By building upon a core knowledge and skill base, subsequent learned and achieved endorsements and annual re-certification, work toward enhancement of prior training and rewards dedication. More importantly this also works toward keeping our certificate holders up to date on the latest ever changing information and techniques used in the fight against terrorism. test

Certified Anti-Terrorism Specialist Canine (CASC)

The "Certified Anti-Terrorism Specialist Canine"(CASC), has The Anti-Terrorism Accreditation Board's "CAS" designation as a pre-requisite. We build upon the "CAS" program course work by adding various specialized K9 training courses. The main purpose of this designation is to show that a holder has sufficient knowledge and understanding of how working K9s are used, deployed and the recognition that the designate knows how to align themselves in a supportive complimentary way while working around a K9 Team. Holders of this designation know how to align themselves in the field to best support the K9 team’s effectiveness while on a mission. This designation may be obtained by those who work adjacent to or around K9 Teams, as this designation is also available for NON handler personnel. Application, study and testing for this certification are done online. Once a student successfully passes an online 200 question test which is randomly generated, and based on the study material provided only by The K9 Intelligence Unit™, the applicant is then awarded the "CASC" designation. This certification is recognized by both The K9 Intelligence Unit™ and The Anti-Terrorism Accreditation Board (ATAB). This designation is a stand alone designation and is currently subject to annual recertification requirements.

FEE: $225.00

ANNUAL RE-CERTIFICATION: $85.00

Counter Terrorism K9 Technician  (CTKT)

The "Counter Terrorism K9 Technician" (CTKT), certification has a pre-requisite component of Anti-Terrorism Accreditation Board's "CAS" designation. The "Counter Terrorism K9 Technician" (CTKT) designation is reached by demonstrating the abilities of the K9 and handler. Both dog and handler are tested and both will receive the "Counter Terrorism K9 Technician" (CTKT) designation separately. However each applicant must have a dog and each dog must have a handler in order to progress through the testing and certification process.

The "Counter Terrorism K9 Technician" (CTKT) certification is made up of “Components”, “Phases” and “Endorsements”.

The "Counter Terrorism K9 Technician" (CTKT) certification has four (4) components. Each component focuses on a specific area of training and the team’s expertise. Each component must be “PASSED” in order to receive the “Counter Terrorism K9 Technician” (CTKT) designation. The applicant must “PASS” each component in progressive order before moving onto the next. The applicant will have up to six (6) months to complete the entire group of tests or testing phases. If an applicant passes a particular component but Fails to pass others, upon retesting, the applicant will only need to pass the prior failed components provided the applicant retests in the window of allotted time. If an applicant fails to complete or “PASS” all components successfully before the six (6) months time limit has arrived, the applicant will be treated as a new applicant.

For better tracking and organization of the certification process, components are broken down into “phases”. For example; the study phase, the testing phase etc.

“Endorsements” are loosely defined as add on specialized components of sorts. There are ten (10) possible endorsements that an applicant may test and receive recognition for. The "Counter Terrorism K9 Technician" (CTKT) certification requires each applicant to have at least one (1) endorsement. Applicants may test for, possess and be recognized for one (1) or more or all ten (10) endorsements.
