The United States Navy Credentials Program has approved

 

The Certified Anti-terrorism Specialist Canine (CASC)

and

The Counter Terrorism K9 Technician (CTKT)

 

 

The K9 Intelligence Unit™ in conjunction with The Anti Terrorism Accreditation Board and the Navy Credentials Program have established criteria for the "CASC" and the "CTKT" designations. 

 

 

 

Certified Anti-terrorism Specialist Canine (CASC)

 

The main purpose of this designation is to show that a holder has sufficient knowledge and understanding of how working K9's are used, deployed and the recognition that the designate knows how to align themselves in a supportive complimentary way while working around a K9 team. Holders of this designation know how to align themselves in the field to best support the K9 teams effectiveness while on a mission. You will be provided with access to The K9 Intelligence Unit's "CASC" online training program which targets K9 counter terrorism and K9 Anti-Terrorism management response. Once a student successfully passes our online 200 question test which is randomly generated and based on the study material provided online the applicant is then awareded the "CASC" designation.

This designation is a stand alone designation and currently subject to annual re-certification requirements.

 

 

 

CASC Qualifications

 

 

Navy members must work with or around dogs, handlers, or adjacent to K9 teams currently or in the past. This experience might come from the K9, Security, Law Enforcement, Military, Fire, EMS, HazMat or Responder industry. You must be of strong moral principles and perform your duties in accordance with the law. You shall be competent in discharging your professional responsibilities.

CASC Application Instructions

You need JavaScript enabled to view it stating your interest,  then download and complete the Professional Certification and Licensing Voucher Request located on the Navy COOL website at https://www.cool.navy.mil Your Commanding Officer’s signature is required on the Voucher Request. Submit the completed and signed Voucher Request form to the U.S. Navy Credentials Program Office at https://www.cool.navy.mil .

Your eligibility for the “CASC” designation will be evaluated and upon approval, the U.S. Navy Credentials Program Office will contact approved applicants by email. Once approved, applicant must submit a copy of the approved Professional Certification and Licensing Voucher Request, together with the completed CASC application to The K9 Intelligence Unit™.

The K9 Intelligence Unit™ will then invoice the U.S. Navy Credentials Program Office for your CASC study materials, evaluation and/ exam.

The K9 Intelligence Unit™ will then email a "username" and "password" that you must use to log into the http://www.K9intelligenceUnit.com website. From the website’s menu find “Online Course Offerings”, select "CASC" for study materials and online exam. Once you review the study material and "PASS" the online exam, you will be mailed a certificate suitable for framing.

Counter Terrorism K9 Technician (CTKT)

 

This designation is reached by demonstrating the abilities of the K9 and The Handler in obedience, utility, scent and/ or patrol work. Both K9 and Handler/ Trainer are eligible for this designation.

 

CTKT Qualifications

 

Active Duty and Reserve Navy personnel must have at least 1.5 years experience Master at Arms, Dog Handler NEC program. You must be of strong moral principles and perform your duties in accordance with the law. You shall be competent in discharging your professional responsibilities. Both dog and handler are evaluated separately. However each applicant must be represented by a dog and each dog a Handler in order to progress through the certification process. As the "CTKT" designation is awarded to K9 and Handler/ Trainer all must file an application and testing waiver. A team consists of one dog and one Handler, each team member (K9 and also Handler) must present an application  and Testing Waiver Request Form. At this time, testing waivers are available to qualified Navy and K9 personnel only and not available to civilian organizations. Testing waiver request forms are available from The K9 Intelligence Unit™ website document download section or by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. To obtain the “CTKT” designation, candidates are required to attend the testing and practical exam appointment time and testing location scheduled for them. The testing and practical exam is a one day event with a morning and afternoon session. Applicants must PASS both sessions.

Navy personnel meeting the pre-requisites may submit a “TESTING WAIVER request" in lieu of sitting for The K9 Intelligence Unit’s Counter Terrorism K9 Technician (CTKT) designation test and practical exam.
